The Board of Water Supply hosts an annual Imagine a Day Without Water event showcasing city, state, and community booths offering hands-on activities, including a rain barrel display, Xeriscape crafts, and succulent workshops.

BWS Confirms Low-Level Detection of PFAS at Pearl City Wells I Pump #2
The Board of Water Supply (BWS) has confirmed the low-level detection of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at its Pearl City Wells I Pump #2. The type of PFAS chemicals and the levels detected are shown in the table below. The BWS reported the findings to the Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) in accordance with Hawaiʻi State Law.

BWS Files Lawsuit Against the Navy for Damages to Water Supply
News Release: Today, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply filed a federal lawsuit against the United States Navy following the Navy’s releases of petroleum and other hazardous chemicals into Oʻahu’s critical, sole source drinking water supply. The Navy itself has acknowledged responsibility for the massive environmental and human health crisis caused by the November 2021 fuel release, but it has refused to accept responsibility for the costs that the BWS has and will incur to respond to the Navy’s contaminant releases.

BWS Confirms Low Level Detection of PFAS In Waipio Pumps
News Release: On Wednesday, March 8, the Board of Water Supply successfully sold $17,425,000 of Water System Revenue Bonds. Proceeds from the bonds will be used to finance new projects and conduct repair and maintenance of the water system.

BWS Objects to Environmental Protection Agency 2023 Administrative Order on Consen
News Release: The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) cannot support, and the U.S. EPA should not approve, the draft administrative order on consent with the U.S. Department of the Navy (Navy) and the Defense Logistics Agency concerning the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (the “2023 Consent Order”).
