To increase awareness of our island's fresh water and the importance of conservation for sustainable resource management, the BWS periodically hosts special events and contests for our island communities.


  • Imagine A Day Without Water

    The Board of Water Supply hosts an annual Imagine a Day Without Water event showcasing city, state, and community booths offering hands-on activities, including a rain barrel display, Xeriscape crafts, and succulent workshops.

  • Annual Unthirsty Plant Sale

    Unless otherwise announced, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply hosts its Annual Unthirsty Plant Sale at its Hālawa Xeriscape Garden, at 99-1268 ʻIwaena Street in Hālawa Valley’s Central Park industrial area on the first Saturday in August. Admission is free. Park on ʻIwaena Street and catch a free shuttle to the garden.

  • Water Conservation Week

    Get information about Board of Water Supply's 2026 annual Water Conservation Week Poster & Poetry contests and events. These events promote awareness of our island's limited drinking water supply and encourage Oʻahu's youth to become more water-efficient.
