BWS and ENV Partner To Double Rebates For Water-Efficient Upgrades

New rebate incentives support conservation while helping to reduce utility costs

HONOLULU – Water conservation just became twice as rewarding. Through a partnership with the City’s Department of Environmental Services (ENV), the Board of Water Supply (BWS) has expanded its WaterSensible Rebate program, doubling rebate amounts on several popular water-saving fixtures and appliances. These incentives help residents and businesses make water-efficient upgrades that can lower utility costs while protecting the island’s water supply.

Residents can now receive higher rebates when upgrading to the following efficient products:

Product

New Rebate Amount

Previous Rebate Amount

ENERGY STAR Clothes Washer

$150

$75

WaterSense-labeled Toilet (1.28 gpf or less)

$200

$100

Smart Water Monitor

$400

$200

*Rebate amounts cannot exceed the purchase price of the product.

Commercial customers will also see higher rebate amounts in plumbing and kitchen equipment designed for restaurants, commercial buildings, and other facilities with high water use.

“Working together allows us to make conservation easier and more affordable for our customers,” said Ernie Lau, Manager and Chief Engineer of the Board of Water Supply. “Every upgrade reduces demand on our system while helping our customers save.”

“This program encourages water conservation while helping offset sewer fee changes that recently went into effect,” said Roger Babcock, Director for the Department of Environmental Services. “Partnering with the Board of Water Supply to double the rebates allows us to support customers while maintaining essential services.”

Customers can apply for rebates and find out more information about the program at www.boardofwatersupply.com/rebates. They may also call 808-748-5041 or email contactus@hbws.org.
