Honolulu Board of Water Supply Welcomes Jonathan Kaneshiro to Its Board of Directors
HONOLULU – Jonathan T. Kaneshiro was appointed to the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS’s) Board of Directors on October 10, 2022. He is the Vice President of Investments at Oahu Waste Services, Inc., the largest waste hauling and recycling operation in Hawaii.
In that capacity, Kaneshiro oversees the assets and strategic investments of Oahu Waste Services and its subsidiaries. This includes auditing and evaluating current assets, managing real estate holdings, and exploring new business opportunities.
Prior to that position, Kaneshiro worked as the Director of Strategy and Innovation at LIVMOR, Inc., a medical device technology company based in Irvine, California. He also worked as a Quantitative Analyst at the San Francisco-based financial services company Alambic Investment Management.
Kaneshiro earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil Engineering) with a Minor in Applied Mathematics from Loyola Marymount University. He also earned a Master of Engineering (Civil and Environmental Engineering) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kaneshiro is also a proud alumnus of Iolani School in Honolulu.
Kaneshiro joins current Board members in overseeing and determining the policies and direction of the BWS. Those Board members are:
Bryan P. Andaya – Board Chair and Member since September 2015, Andaya is owner of Andaya Consulting, LLC and the Andaya School of Real Estate.
Kapua‘ala Sproat – Vice Chair and Member since May 2015, Sproat is associate professor and environmental law clinic director at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law and counsel for Earthjustice.
Na‘alehu Anthony – Member since January 2021, Anthony is a Native Hawaiian storyteller and documentary filmmaker, co-founder of ʻOiwi TV and the ʻAina Aloha coalition, and Principal of Palikū Films.
Max Sword – Member since October 2018, Sword is the owner of Max J. Sword & Associates, LLC and is a retired vice president of industry affairs at Outrigger Enterprises Group.
Dawn Szewczyk – Ex-Officio Member and currently director and chief engineer, City and County of Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance.
Jade T. Butay – Ex-Officio Member and currently director, State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Kaneshiro fills the Board vacancy left by Ray Soon, retired Chief of Staff to former Mayor Kirk Caldwell as well as founder of the consulting firm Solutions Pacific. The BWS extends its deepest appreciation to Mr. Ray Soon for his service to the Board and the community
